Learn to make delicious sourdough bread…just in time for the holidays!

Join chef and wild food enthusiast Don King for a fun and informative workshop! Guests will learn about fermentation, and how it can transform simple ingredients into nutritious and delicious food.

The workshop will begin with a sampling of homemade sourdough bread with cultured butter. This version of sourdough features a no-knead, overnight-fermented process that’s easy to learn and master. The bread pairs well with cultured butter, which is made from cream that ferments overnight. This ain’t your mama’s butter! It has tangy notes that add depth to the flavor, and it can be used like regular butter in any recipe.

When we’re done snacking, I’ll walk you through each step of the fermentation process. I’ll demonstrate how to make the dough, as well as how to prepare it for the overnight ferment. Then I’ll use dough that has been made the day before to show you how to properly proof your dough, followed by baking it in the oven. While the bread is baking, we’ll be making the butter…it takes a little elbow grease, but it’s well worth it!

Participants will receive a jar of my homemade sourdough starter…the same starter I’ve been using for years. You’ll also take home both recipes so you can begin your fermentation journey right away!

Space is limited, so the sooner you signup, the better!

The cost for the workshop is $20 per person, but it’s only $15 if you bring in a few canned or dry goods to donate to Kent Social Services!
